The North West beat London 49-30 to capture the Regional Development Tournament title for U13 Girls this past weekend at Lilleshall National Sports Centre in Shropshire.

 

"This year’s U13 Girls Regional Development Tournament proved once again to be an important part of the performance pathway,” said British Basketball’s Head of Performance Warwick Cann.

 

“The volunteer regional coaches were enthusiastic and focused. They kept coaching for the whole weekend irrespective of the score,” he continued. “Technically there is much to do to improve this level but coaches and players clearly were trying to play the British style and there is ongoing improvement in technical and tactical areas.

 

“It was an enthusiastic event to wrap up this year’s Regional Development Program. There has been significant progress overall in coaching and playing abilities,” said Cann.

 

Isabel Lambros from the South East won the British Shooting Competition, hitting 12 of 21 of her shots, and the runner-up was Roshni Lawrence from London.

 

The Dave Fisher Coaching Award was presented by Nick Ibberson, Executive Member of the English Schools Basketball Association to Karen Goodrich from Northampton for services to schools basketball.
