VCARS.co.uk D2 Men round-up: London teams move to top of league

Newham Neptunes and Eastside Eagles are top of the league at 2-0 after the second week of action.

Newham Neptunes handed Loughborough Students Riders their first defeat of the season with a 69-66 win at UEL Sportsdock on Saturday.
 
Karolis Stepanavicius led Neptunes with 20 points as they improved to 2-0 to top the table at this early stage of the season.
 
Will Maynard led Riders with 18 points.

Eastside Eagles produced a fourth quarter comeback to defeat Manchester Magic 64-57 and improve to 2-0.
 
Eagles entered the final period down 46-42, but powered to a 22-11 quarter behind 24 points from Craig Pringle and 20 from Mark Denchfield.
 
Magic were led by 14 points from Loick Pouale.

Derbyshire Arrows dominated the first three quarters on the way to picking up their first VCARS.co.uk Division 2 victory of the season 73-58 at Team Solent.
 
Robert Valentine had 22 points and Svetoslav Alexandrov had 18 as Arrows charged to a 62-33 lead with a quarter to go and then took their foot off the gas.
 
Kaye Lawal had 12 points for Solent, whose only victory so far this season came at Croydon Cougars in the opening round of the National Cup.

Mansfield Giants started their league campaign with a 75-68 home defeat to PAWS London Capital.
 
Giants led 41-39 at half-time, but found themselves down 60-57 at the end of three quarters and could only manage 11 points in the fourth quarter.
 
Capital were led by 18 points from Jamel Felix and 17 from Trevor Jack. Dan Watts had 25 points for Giants.
 
The win sees Capital start to make some headway into their 12 point penalty.
