The East won the U13 Boys Regional Development Tournament held as always at Lilleshall National Sports Centre in Shropshire this past weekend.

 

A close final saw East defeat London 45-41 to keep the capital side in a runner-up position for the second straight year. London lost to the East Midlands in 2011.

 

Warwick Cann, British Basketball’s Head of Performance, said:

 

“The U13 Boys Regional Development Tournament was a very pleasing event. The regional coaches did a great job of identifying talent with good potential. They also coached well to the Area of Emphasis.

 

“There was a clearly noticeable good skill level and British style of play. The depth of talent across all regions was impressive as was the inclusion of players from many more clubs within the region than is normal.

 

“There weren't many negatives. I look forward to giving the coaches individual feedback.  It was a most encouraging event.”
