U18 Girls finish in top eight at FIBA 3x3

Monday, 01-Oct-2012

England's U18 Girls made the quarter finals of the FIBA 3x3 U18 World Championship over the weekend in Madrid.

The team consisting of Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott, Cheridene Green, Shequila Joseph and Janice Monakana finished third in Pool C losing only to Romania (12-10) and eventual bronze medallists Australia (16-14).

That set up a knockout game against China, who had defeated eventual champions USA in pool play, but the England girls came out on top 16-14 to make the last eight.

Their tournament ended at that stage as they were defeated 17-11 by the Italians.

Serbia won the boy's contest - defeating USA 21-20 in overtime in the final and France won the mixed event, which meant that the winners of the U18 tournaments were exactly the same as the senior tournaments earlier in the year.
