Gayle re-signs with Rossendale

Monday, 10-Sep-2012

Steven Gayle has rejoined the Rossendale Raptors for a second year and will once again spearhead their National League campaign.

Gayle was a huge success at the club last year, leading the league in scoring and being voted as the MVP of EBL Division 4 North.

Having played several seasons in the BBL before joining the Raptors there was a lot of interest over the summer from BBL teams looking to add Gayle to their roster. Despite some very good offers from other clubs Steve commented:

"I was very happy at Rossendale last season, it really feels like home. The club is brilliant, the people are brilliant, and the fans are great. I've had offers from elsewhere, including offers from clubs in the BBL, however, it was an easy decision to return to the Raptors as I'm really excited about the program in Rossendale and the long term vision for the club. It's a very exciting and fun place to be, and I'm delighted to be back for another year."

Coach Jim Fry is obviously delighted to have his star player return, commenting:

"It's great to have Steve back for another season. We have a lot of strength in depth but Steve brings that extra flair, an extra spark and to be honest he's the best scorer in the league as well as a guy who creates a lot of opportunities for the other guys in our squad. That gives us something extra that no one else really has on court. We're pleased to have him back, and I know how excited he is to be back on board."
