Paralympics Day 4: GB Men crush Poland

Monday, 03-Sep-2012

With Great Britain’s Women having the day off on Sunday, the British Men made up for their absence with a resounding 87-58 win over Poland at the Paralympic Wheelchair Basketball preliminary competition.

The win, which places GB third in Group B, was easily the Men’s best performance of the tournament so far as they look for a quarter final position in the tournament.

The Men were dominant throughout on Sunday against Poland, winning every quarter, and their 10-0 run to end the first half gave them a double-digit advantage they never lost.

Ten of GB’s twelve players scored and five of those scored in double figures. Terry Bywater was the top scorer with 22 points and he also handed out 5 assists. GB shot an impressive 69% from the floor.

Britain’s Men and Women are in action on Monday in the final games of the preliminary round. The Men play Japan and the Women are up against Canada.
