With the first 3x3 World Championships due for Athens this weekend, the England teams have been finalised and have been training since August 18 at Leeds Met Carnegie University.
The Men's and Women's tournaments run concurrently starting on August 23 with four groups of six being narrowed down to a last 16, from which point the tournament is straight knockout.
England's Men (Jamell Anderson, Devan Bailey, Myles Hesson, Tayo Ogedengbe, Team Leader Matt Newby) have been drawn with Egypt, Lebanon, Romania, Turkey and USA and the Women (Georgia Jones, Rosalee Mason, Hannah Shaw, Cristal Turner, Team Leader Matt Harber) have been drawn against Jordan, Romania, Russia, Spain and Turkey.
All eight players participated in the 3x3 event at Czech House in London during the Olympics in order to be eligible for the World Championships and are being hosted at Leeds Met Carnegie University as they prepare for the tournament.
England Basketball Performance Manager Martin Bland stated: "This is an exciting opportunity to take part in a FIBA flagship event. We are appreciative of the hard work of both Matt Newby and Matt Harber in leading this program in a professional manner at short notice."
England also have a team in the U18 Women 3x3 World Championship, which will take place in Madrid from September 27-30. The members of this team will be confirmed closer to the event by team leader Lee Davie.
