Team Leaders appointed for 3x3 World Championships
This summer will see England teams participating at FIBA 3x3 World Championships and as one of the early steps on the way, Team Leaders have been appointed for each team.
The FIBA 3x3 World Championship takes place in Athens, Greece on August 23-26 and the FIBA U18 3x3 World Championship will be held in Seville, Spain on September 27-30.
Each tournament includes a male and female tournament and countries were asked to apply for a position in the events. England Basketball applied for entry into all four tournaments and were accepted into all except the U18M category due to the high number of applicants.
The Senior Men and Senior Women teams will be led by Leeds Carnegie Men's coach Matt Newby and Loughborough Riders Women's coach Matt Harber, respectively when they travel to Greece. They will each be one of 24 teams vying for the title alongside basketball powerhouse nations such as USA, Spain and Russia as well as smaller nations like Nepal and Sri Lanka.
The U18 Women will be led by Lee Davie, Head Coach of Durham Wildcats Women and the England U15 Girls Development Squad, on their trip to Spain, with their opponents ranging from USA and Russia to Guam and Hong Kong.
