Sheffield 3-on-3 Tournament
Wednesday, 04-Jul-2012
The entries are in, the schedules are ready and the courts are on their way from Germany for Sheffield's 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament being held on 7 and 8 July at Meadowhall Shopping Centre.
This outdoor basketball festival features a full weekend of entertainment including DJs Funky Town Entertainment and rugby league dancers Wakefield Wildcats Dolls and Castleford Tigers Dance Academy. There will be a dunk competition on Saturday, three-point shoot outs on both days and tons of prizes available including draws for Olympic Basketball tickets!
We are also very pleased to announce that nearly 200 teams have entered the 3-on-3 Tournament with teams in 12 different age categories. The Open Male competition is the largest of the weekend, with 72 entries coming in from around the country.
Sheffield's 3-on-3 Tournament is the only UK stop on this current FIBA Europe tour that has visited several major European cities, most recently Prague. Representatives from FIBA Europe are currently en route from Munich in two lorries (pictured above) packed with portable courts, floors and the trademark giant inflatable balls. Log onto
FIBA Europe's 3on3 Facebook page to see photos from previous events and to see what's in store for Sheffield fans and players this weekend!
Unfortunately due to the huge number of entries no one will be permitted to turn up on the day and play, however we would encourage anyone wishing to attend drop by between 10am and 7pm on Saturday and 11am and 5pm on Sunday.
The Sheffield event currently holds the FIBA Europe record for the most entries into their 3-on-3 event.
