Under strength GB Men hammered by Russia
The Standard Life GB Men's team lost 87-51 to Russia in San Antonio, Texas on Monday night.
Britain - playing without Luol Deng, Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Joel Freeland and Rob Archibald - were no match for the Russians, who finished third at EuroBasket 2011 and seventh at FIBA World Championship 2010 and are building towards the start of their Olympic Qualifying Tournament campaign which starts next week.
Dan Clark led GB with 12 points with Eric Boateng grabbing a double-double of 11 points and 14 rebounds.
"Russia is a very tough team and this game provided an opportunity for our young guys to play against a battle ready team," GB head coach Chris Finch said afterwards.
"Regardless of the score, this provides a great opportunity to evaluate. We created some good scoring opportunities but weren't able to finish."
Britain will get a second chance against the Russians in Houston on Thursday night.
