There were no shocks in the Women's National Cup second round as six more teams progressed to join UWIC Archers in the quarter-finals.

The two Division One sides playing teams from the lower tier both progressed into the quarter-finals with comfortable wins, while there were contrasting games in the two all-top flight games.

The day's biggest victory came at Nottingham Wildcats where Wellingborough Phoenix were hammered 130-11 (stats/boxscore). The hosts effectively ended the game as a contest with a 32-0 first period, though the visitors didn't help themselves with four misses from the free-throw line. Phoenix finally got on the scoresheet with 1:50 left in the first half, but Nottingham still led 59-3 at half-time. A 24-2 third period followed before the visitors were outscored 37-6 in the fourth period.

Siobhan Prior led Nottingham with 25 points, eight assists and five steals, while Caitlin Flood (24) and Sabra Wrice (23) completed the Wildcats' scoring. Lindsey Whitley and Stephanie Nicolas finished with three apiece for Phoenix.

City of Sheffield Hatters recorded their second triple-digit victory of the campaign with a 123-17 victory at Cheshire Jets.

Hatters rushed into a 34-3 first period lead and extended the margin to 65-5 at half-time. A 37-5 third period saw Hatters reach the century mark before taking their foot off the pedal in final stanza.

Hatters were led by Helen Naylor (40) , Shanna Oaddams (26) and Lisa Hutchinson (16), while Isabelle Iff finished with eight and Genevieve Trowler six for the Jets.

Leeds Carnegie also progressed, defeating Hinckley and Bosworth Lady Hoops 87-36. A 29-5 first period put them in charge, and they home and dry by half-time with a 50-15 lead. They were 64-25 ahead at the final break before outscoring the visitors 23-11 in the final period.

Rehana Khalil led Carnegie with 19, with Jones adding 18 and Hayward 15. James top scored for Hoops with eight, with Pau and Grewcock each adding six.

Leeds will now host Nottingham in the quarter-finals.

Things were a lot closer at Brixton as London Heathrow Acers defeated the hometown Topcats 67-56. The hosts led 15-12 at the first break but Acers went into the locker room leading 27-25 at half-time and extended that advantage to 51-46 at the final break. A 26-10 final period wrapped things up, and Acers will now meet either Barking Abbey or Sevenoaks Suns, who meet on Thursday.

Flo Piano led Acers with 13 with Lear and Da Silva each scoring 12. Ofomata led all scorers with 27 for Acers and Maignomo and Davids added 8.

Bristol Storm reached the last eight for the first time with a 44-35 victory against fellow Division Two side City of Birmingham Force. In a low-scoring game, Force led 14-9 at the first break and were still 22-18 ahead at half-time. A 12-5 third period lead put the home team in charge, and they closed out the win with a 14-8 final period.

Ravn led the Storm scoring with 13, with Henderson adding seven, while Allen (12) and Davis (10) led Force.

Bristol will now travel to UWIC Archers in the quarter-finals.

The other all Division Two clash saw Manchester Mystics win their derby against Stockport Lapwings 52-43.

Led by Thivillier's 16 points, Mystics were 15-7 ahead at the first break before extending that lead to 29-15 going into the locker room. Lapwings narrowed the gap to 41-30 at the final break but despite winning the fourth period 13-11, they couldn't overcome the deficit.

Caton (9) and Blakeway (7) contributed for Mystics, while Lucas led Lapwings with nine and both Dean and Barnes added eight.

Mystics will travel to Sheffield in the quarter-finals.
