U15 GIRLS DEFEAT WALES U18 - (12/07/2011)
The U15 Girls Development squad finished their programme for the 2010/11 seaosn with two comprehensive wins against Wales U18.
The first game finished 63-49 after England won the second quarter 18-9 to take control of the game. Brenda Kipewu top scored with 18 points. The second game finished 81-31 with Rhianna Laing top scoring on 22 points.
Coach Lee Davie stated: "These two games were an excellent way for us to finish this year's campaign. It was a great opportunity for us to take a look at a number of players and for our players to show us what they've learned this year. Throughout both games we showed a consistent high level of play working towards the British Style of Play which has been our focus all year.
"I would like to thank the players and their parents for all the hard work and support this year as well as to our coaching staff Joe Riley, Nick Ibberson and team manager Rebecca Lonsdale.
U15 GIRLS IMPROVE THROUGHOUT COPENHAGEN TOURNAMENT - (21/06/2011)
The U15 Girls Development squad returned from Copenhagen at the weeked with 4 defeats and 1 win, but showed encouraging signs of improvement over the course of the 3 days.
On the opening day they lost by 16 to Iceland and 7 to Denmark. On day two they lost by 9 to Hjemly and 2 to Berlin. On the final day they managed to beat previously unbeaten Netherlands by 2.
Coach Lee Davie commented: "It was a fantastic tournament for both the players and the coaching staff. We learned many lessons the hard way throughout the tournament. Through a lot of hard work and perseverance, our team learnt the importance of strong team chemistry and being accountable to the team for everything we do on the floor. I am most pleased that we showed much more consistency as the tournament progressed."
Head of Performance Warwick Cann commented: "The Denmark international tournament is a good tournament to introduce our players to international basketball. We made good progress with both U15 teams this tournament. We are now becoming very competitive against the Netherlands - who are a good benchmark at this stage. All of their junior women programmes are in Division A and we have had recent good results against them. The U15 girls had a win in Denmark which follows the U16s being competitive with them in Manchester and the GB U20 Women splitting their series. Our women's programmes are making good improvements."
