U18 WOMEN INITIAL SQUAD NAMED - (29/09/2010)
After reviewing the 2010 U17 Inter-regional tournament and U16 & U18 European Championships an initial squad for the U18 Women has been a released to attend camp in the mid-term break at Bristol.
"We are making a conscious effort with our national team programme to get an early start for the 2011 European Championship. Our coaching staff is in place and now the programmes have also been planned" stated Warwick Cann. "The U18 Women broke into the top 8 at Europeans for the first time in 2010 and now we have a lot of hard work to do to repeat that and make the next step with women's basketball. It is important that we identity and develop national teams players particularly as we have qualified for Division A at the U20 level and would love to qualify at the level below that as well."

U18 WOMEN SWEEP LUXEMBOURG - (02/06/2010)
England's Under 18 Women completed a three-game sweep against hosts Luxembourg over the weekend as they continued their warm-up for this summer's European Championship, B Division.
Coach Michael Ball took an 11-player squad for the three games, and it was Temitope Fagbenle who dominated for England, leading the scoring in all the games and finishing with a total of 74 points.
The opening game saw England win 74-68, with their success built around a strong start. They scored well in transition, getting some good looks inside and with some strong perimeter defence they went into the first break with a 26-11 lead. That advantage grew to 45-29 going into the locker room at half-time, but as the game progressed the visitors missed many easy finishes and play with less thought and energy at the defensive end, and were called for 25 fouls in contrast to the hosts' 12.
Luxembourg chipped a point off the lead at the first break, with England leading 60-45, but despite losing the fourth period 23-14, Ball's team held on to record the win.
Fagbenle finished with 26 points, Timeyn Oritsesan adding 12, Jessica Hurd eight and Rheanne Bailey seven.
Fagbenle, who attends Luol Deng's former school Blair Academy in the United States, was again unstoppable the following day - pouring in 29 points as England won 47-34.
The teams were tied at 12 going into the first break, but in contrast to the previous day the visitors got stronger as the game progressed, and led 23-19 at half-time. An 11-9 third period saw the lead stretched, and they wrapped things up with a 13-6 final stanza. Hurd was the only other player to score more than two with nine points as Fagbenle outscored the rest of her team by nine.
Game three on Sunday, proved to be England's best of the weekend, and for most of the game they performed closer to the standard expected by the coaching staff. They showed better ball movement, fewer turnovers and a better inside/outside balance than previously displayed.
The 80-43 victory left Ball a happy man:
"I told the players that the level of intensity and energy we showed in the final game of the trip has to become the starting point in all our future games together," he said. "We have something positive to take back to England to build upon and although we have many areas to develop, I think that the players have begun to understand what playing for this England team is all about if we are to be successful this summer."
The visitors rushed into a 27-6 first period lead, and extended that advantage to 46-25 going into the locker room. A 20-8 third period ended the game as a contest, and although Luxembourg closed the game out with a 19-14 fourth quarter, it was too late to prevent Ball and his team going home with a third straight win.
Fagbenle finished with 19, with Jennie Rodgers adding 14, Jamila Thompson 11 and Olufemi Hamilton nine.
England continue their preparation for the European Championship this week with a training camp in Harpenden, Hertfordshire.
