Capital Investment
As part of our whole sport plan funding England Basketball receives a limited amount of capital funding from Sport England to assist with the development of basketball facilities across the country. Details of our previous investments and current projects can be found on this page.
England Basketball Community Club Development Programme 2003-2008
The Community Club Development Programme (CCDP) was a collaboration between Sport England, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), and National Governing Bodies of Sport. England Basketball invited clubs with suitable facilities projects to apply for funding and investment. We then worked in partnership with Sport England to ensure projects were delivered.
Between 2003 and 2008, England Basketball was awarded just over £2.3 million from the DCMS and Sport England to invest in Capital Projects. England Basketball awarded grants to 8 projects in total -
Hoops Basketball Centre, Barrow Thorns Basketball Club
£115,809 to build a coach, official and volunteer development room
Beauchamp College, Leicester Cannons Basketball Club
£200,000, towards a new build 2 basketball court hall
Noel Baker School, Derby Trailblazers Basketball Club
£159,106 to upgrade flooring, lighting and basketball equipment
Northants School for Girls, Northants Basketball Club
£600,000 to build an additional basketball court onto an existing hall
Lapwings Centre, Stockport Basketball Club
£15,740 for re-marking basketball court and provision of basketball equipment and score board to meet national league standards
Spectrum Centre, Wear Valley Basketball Club
£16,560 to improve basketball equipment and score board to meet national league standards
Queens School Bushey, Hertfordshire Warriors Basketball Club
£429,454 towards the building of a new 2 basketball court hall
Nottingham Wildcats Arena, Nottingham Wildcats Basketball Club
£783,555 towards the development of an additional 1 court basketball hall with mini basketball provision
Our investment into these clubs and facilities has had significant impact on basketball participation and England Basketball registered membership. Through the CCDP capital funding programme clubs have received regular access to facilities and have been able to increase the number of individuals playing basketball on a regular basis, increase the number of qualified coaches and officials as well as increasing the number volunteers involved in our sport.
