Ian Pollard Development Fund

The Ian Pollard Development Fund (IPDF) was created in honour of not only an excellent British FIBA referee, but someone that was passionate about the development of referees from grass roots to international levels.

The fund aims to aid the development of referees throughout the UK, through part-funding of any relevant activity, course or project that is deemed to improve skills, experience or technical knowledge of officiating. It is intended that grants from the IPDF should support referees' own personal investment in their development.

With income generated from both regional basketball associations and basketball officials themselves, the theme of officials investment in their own development is supported by the desire of governing bodies to improve officiating nationwide. The fact that regional associations are willing to commit finance to this fledgling fund supports the credibility of the philosophy behind this project and to the committee who aim to distribute the funds effectively.

Applications are now invited for the first round of grants from the IPDF, and these should be made using the downloadable application form, supported by covering letter.

The awards will be made in January, April and August of each year.
