Coach Development
England Basketball, through the UK Coaching Framework, is enhancing its systems by providing opportunities and training to assist coaches in reaching their true potential at their chosen level and area of play. The development of quality basketball players goes hand in hand with the development of quality coaches across England.
An important aspect of this development is the recognition that grass roots, development, elite and senior coaches are equally valuable to England Basketball and this website contains information and resources for coaches across the whole England Basketball community. Coach development covers broader areas that support the knowledge gained on a coach education course with ALL coaches taking on the ultimate responsibility of the improvement in performance of players and teams in their charge. An impossible task if the coach does not look to continually develop their skills and experience.
England Basketball's Coach Development Framework also recognises that coaches develop in a variety of ways and that there is a diverse range of development opportunities available to basketball coaches. This could be through a series of events or workshops like the annual coaching conference or something delivered more locally through a Regional Management Committee, County Sports Partnership, and Coaches network or by a Club's Coaching Coordinator.
The Basketball Coaches Association also runs both a national and local programme of clinics to support coaches who wish to develop and gain access to formal mentoring. To find out more please visit
