England Basketball Coach Education Programme
The Coach Education Programme is organised for the development and training of basketball coaches. The scheme provides an incentive to men and women to improve their knowledge of the game, assesses this knowledge, and enables England Basketball to maintain a list of active coaches prepared to play a part in the development of basketball in England.
UK Coaching Cerificate
The UK Coaching Certificate is an endorsement of sports-specific coach education. It ensures that sports are delivering the best available, player centred coaching in recreational, development and performance environments. It is a joint basketball development between England Basketball, Basketball Wales and Basketball Scotland. England Basketball has entered a service level agreement with Sports Structures to work as England Basketball's 1st4Sport recognised centre to deliver the England Basketball UKCC courses. A bridging course to UKCC Level 2 will be available from April 2010.

This is the basic level of coaching qualification for those who wish to commit to coaching basketball. The course provides each candidate with the basic knowledge of basketball and coaching skills, and will enable the holder to assist a fully qualified Level 2 Coach. Candidates enrolled on a Level 1 UKCC Basketball courses should download and complete the following
Coaching Practice Requirements and
Home Study Questions before attending the first day of the course. It is also recomended that you download read the
Health & Safety Guidelines for Basketball.
This is the standard level of coaching qualification for all club coaches working at local and junior national league level who wish to commit to coaching basketball. The award gives an overview of coaching styles and the skills and techniques of basketball. Candidates enrolled on a Level 2 UKCC Basketball course should download and complete the following

Home Study Questions before attending the first day of the course. It is also recomended that you download read the
Health & Safety Guidelines for Basketball.
England Basketball Level 3 UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC L3)
This is the advanced level of coaching qualification and is suitable for coaches working with all standards of players.
England Basketball Awards
This is an introductory level qualification designed to empower candidates with the skills, drills and basic technical knowledge to deliver recreational/social basketball.
The Basketball Activators Award is recommended as the appropriate add-on for the Level 1 award in Community Sports Leadership (formerly the JSLA).
A 6 hour course (to accommodate inset days it can be split into 2 or 3 hour modules if required) which gives an appreciation of the basics of the game and allows non-basketball staff to obtain enough knowledge to deliver basketball to primary students and is accompanied by a resource pack which includes lesson plans, drills and information to assist in planning a course of classes.
This is an introductory course covering the basic fundamentals of basketball and organisational techniques. The award is aimed at senior school pupils, FE students, teachers with no experience of basketball, teaching assistants and parents / guardians. This award course also serves as a technical 'bolt-on' to the Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership (formerly the CSLA).
This is the basic level of award in coaching basketball for those with little or no knowledge of basketball and is suitable for those coaches wishing to work alongside more qualified coaches in a club or school environment.
Coach Level 2
This is the first level of coaching award that coaches need to coach without supervision.
